As a Jewish Orthodox camp, summer at the J has a strong emphasis on a torah-rich environment, which is combined with daily camp fun. We also prioritize camper care and every camper’s social emotional growth is supported as they navigate relationships and form friendships, gain independence and build confidence.

The J prides itself on giving campers the opportunity to discover their personal passions through innovative chugim (choice-based specialties). In addition, our wide variety of activities, including Judaic learning, daily davening, arts & crafts, sports & games, archery, plus Color Wars and theme days make each week special.

You may not see it from our front doors, but venture out back and you’ll discover a gorgeous, expansive green athletic field with two baseball diamonds, shaded areas, a rock climbing wall, an archery range, two playgrounds and a large tent at the center of the campus. Plus, an indoor heated swimming pool and indoor air-conditioned spaces make this the perfect backdrop for campers to create friendships and memories that last a lifetime.

Jen’s Camp was designed for kids and families!   Our goal?  Make the entire experience from registering to day to day camp easy on the families and provide the kids with great activities and choices about how they spend their day. We saw families struggling with programs that only ran for 3 hours and saw first hand the strain that added to family units.   Our goal is to make things easy on the families.  That means less time coordinating logistics.  We are open from Monday, June 20 – Friday, August 12, 2022,  Monday – Friday from 7:30a – 6p.  Our fee is inclusive and covers morning and afternoon snacks, lunch and all of our offered activities, automatically.  There are no extra registration steps for certain programs, no before or aftercare needed. We never leave campus so caregivers can drop off and pick up their campers whenever it is best for them within our hours of operation.   We offer registration for the whole summer (best value), weekly blocks or by the day.   Need just an afternoon?  Snag a spot in our half-day pilot program from Noon – 6p.

The campers choose from the open activities (different activities are open at different times of day) and spend their time doing what interests them the most.  All of our activities are designed to be intuitive, meaning even the youngest of campers can walk right up to the activity and get started.  How?  Meticulous preparation and plan ahead so that it all comes off as simple and easy to engage in.  We have visual guides for campers to reference and staff always nearby if a camper should want a little help or a high-five to celebrate some cool new thing that they just tried for the first time!  From stop motion animation to hand sewing to water play on the turf field – we’ve got a great summer planned for your campers!   Registration is open!

They’ll also be given the chance to discover what goes on “behind the scenes,” helping to create costumes pieces, sets, and props. Stages camps are run by professional teaching artists with years of experience on professional stages as well as in the classroom so you can drop-off feeling confident that your child is in good hands all week long.

When you trust kids, they trust themselves. Since 1980, Steve & Kate’s has put kids in charge of their own learning experience. As campers try, fail, and learn on their own, they learn to trust their own judgment, and tackle the challenges of an ever changing world with creativity and confidence.

Campers choose minute to minute from a variety of activities including, sewing, stop-motion animation, music, sports & recreation, makers crafts, bread making, and more. They’ll decide what they want to do, and for how long.

This summer families can buy as many days as they’d like, or weeks due to pandemic protocol in Chicago, to use throughout the summer! Or, if you need more care, purchase a Summer Pass, which covers the whole season. If for any reason your plans change, we’ll automatically refund any unused Passes in full at summer’s end. Lunch, snacks, and all hours (8am–6pm) are included.
