Hi McKenzie! Thanks for speaking with us today!
Kelly, thank YOU—you’re totally awesome 🧡
Where are you from originally, and what brought you to Chicago?
Born and raised Midwest kinda girl —from Michigan, college brought me to Chicago and stuck around. Definitely sweet home Chicago vibes.
How many kids do you have, and how old are they?
I have four incredibly unique, healthy and happy little kids. There is definitely (somewhat organized) chaos and everything always seems sticky — but there is a whole lotta love. it’s the little BIG moments that are everything.
What is your favorite part about being a mom?
The moments they surprise you. Unexpected tender moments. And all the delirious giggles. And of course, all you can eat grilled cheese crust.
You and your family live in Wicker Park! What are your favorite things to do with your family around the neighborhood?
Hanging in our backyard, chilling at Club Lucky, walkin’ the neighborhood & seeing the regulars.
Can you tell us about your career journey, and how it brought you to where you are today?
I had design based jobs — with the goal of creating a deeply personal and experiential space for clients. The new Hyve office in the west Fulton Market is exactly that. Think the coolest members-only kids club. Terrazzo flooring & natural oak. light/bright/airy but tactical and warm. Packed full of antiques and fine art — we are elevating the experience — not only for kids but their parents. The space features a test kitchen, yoga/mediation room, teen lounge, toddler playroom, and newborn wing with nursery type wellness rooms and baby water floating tubs. The Hyve exam spaces look more like mini-lounges than sterile anxiety filled rooms. It’s a game changer!
I’m so inspired by Hyve Health and everything that will be offered through the Hyve membership. Can you share more about what led you to co-found Hyve?
As a mom with 4 kids, I valued the convenience and 24/7 access of a concierge pediatrician but knew families need and deserve way more. Hyve took all the great aspects of a concierge pediatrician and grew exponentially from there…We offer programming developed by experts to support your child meeting their milestones. Our programming is divided into three categories: clinical, wellness and practical. Mix and match what is right for your family. Hyve is staffed with a support team of a dietician, mental health specialist, OT/Speech therapist, and the list goes on…all available to your child —quickly and seamlessly. At Hyve we are taking a truly whole child approach — we understand there is so much more to your child’s wellbeing than a yearly doctors exam.
Can you share more about some of the programming & events that are on the horizon for Hyve?
At Hyve we are all about community. Our motto is: it takes a Hyve. Some of the Hyve programming that I love:
Fatherhood: A Crash Course (self explanatory, lol)
It’s a Period Party (helping young women understand the changes in their body, a wellness approach to cycle tracking and support, and a guide to the various organic products available)
How can moms sign up for a Hyve membership?

As an entrepreneur with four kids, I can only imagine how many things you have to get done in a day! Do you have any favorite mom hacks or tips that make your everyday life easier?
Early to rise, early to bed. And don’t sweat the small stuff.
Rapid Fire Round!
